In 2017, Jolie did the Khmer Rouge-era drama, First They Killed My Father. This film received both BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations. In 2019 Jolie again played the role of Maleficent. The first Maleficent movie in 2014, was the biggest success of her career. The second one would gross approximately $600 million.
