Wrestling: Andre the Giant
French pro wrestler Andre the Giant is literally one, standing at 7’4”. He is best known for his long-running career in the World Wrestling Federation, figuring in iconic matches against the likes of Hulk Hogan and Yokozuna. Andre weighed a whopping 520 lbs at the height of his fame.
The reason for his unusual size was not natural, however. Andre suffered from acromegaly, which eventually caused his death at 46 years old. Aside from his WWE stardom, he also appeared as one of the key characters in the 1980s cult blockbuster “The Princess Bride” alongside Carey Elwes, Chris Sarandon, Mandy Patinkin, and Robin Wright.
