Aside from the fact that it took nearly three weeks to file a missing persons report after the girls’ initial disappearance on Aug. 24, authorities are still trying to piece together what exactly happened. Like how did they get from their home in Fairfax County, Virginia to New York? How were their bodies free from trauma? And was their death a murder or a suicide?
