Drinking from Water Garden Hoses
Packaged was not generally a thing until several decades later. You would simply drink from the tap, and in the late spring, kids, subsequent to going around the yard for some time, had no disgrace in taking a taste from the nursery hose. No one ever thought that water from garden hoses was unregulated and potentially unsafe. This was totally normal. The hose was a fixture of summertime fun, with kids running in and out of sprinklers.
