When A Stranger Calls
“Hello?” Irene says after picking up the call. As Irene took the call, Derek walks into the kitchen, sitting at the table and skimming through his morning newspaper. But then suddenly he sees his wife’s face turn grey as she utters the words, “Target gift cards… ok.”
Her feeble and shaking voice trembled off as the man on the phone hung up. Standing still like a waxwork at a museum, Irene bursts into tears.
