The Hoover Dam

When millions of people lost their jobs during the Great Depression in America, the Hoover Dam project became one of the greatest salvation during that challenging time. It was able to provide employment for 5,251 laborers in 1934. Those formerly unemployed Americans finally found a way to put food on the table. The five-year construction of the Hoover Dam only started after Congress gave the green light. It cost $49 million— about $639 million in 2016— to complete it, which was in time for its dedication.
