Historic Images That Are Rarely Seen

The Pond—Moonlight

Wikimedia Commons

This breathtaking work of art by Edward Steichen happens to be both a painting and a photograph. Captured in New York in 1904, “The Pond—Moonlight” or simply “Moonlight” was achieved through hand color and black-and-white prints. For those who are not aware, this technique of combining the two mediums is referred to as “Pictorialism” in the world of art. Many people at present remain fascinated by this image even though over a century had already gone by since its creation.
