The Tacoma Narrows Bridge

When the Tacoma Narrows Bridge was completed in 1940, no one thought that it would eventually collapse. Unfortunately, tragedy struck just four months after its inauguration. The Washington bridge was destroyed by an “aeroelastic flutter,” which resulted in plenty of casualties. A man Howard Clifford was photographed running away from the scene. He was one of the survivors who managed to get back to shore right before the bridge fell down. Needless to say, it was a horrifying experience that no one would ever forget.
