The Hindenburg Disaster

Wikimedia Commons

Tragedy struck once again when German passenger airship LZ 129 caught fire in New Jersey in 1937. It was actually on the verge of docking at the Naval Air Station when it got destroyed. The unfortunate event was called the Hindenburg Disaster. Thirty-six people lost their lives in the accident, making it “one of the worst catastrophes in the world.” The journalists and photographers were originally there to highlight the 804-foot-long Hindenburg, but they ended up witnessing the horrible event.
