Queen Elizabeth I 1533-1603

She is one of the most recognizable monarchs in British royal history and although we have many portrait paintings that depict what the Queen looked like, artist Mat Collishaw went one step further to build a version of the Queen stripped away of the trappings of her wigs, jewelry and elaborate dresses. The facial reconstruction is a representation of an older Elizabeth in her later reign as opposed to the young woman in the portraits.
