Sub-Saharan African Woman: c. 250 AD
Known as Beachy Head Lady, this woman is believed to have been a sub-Saharan African whose body was found in Britain. Archaeologists are still unclear as to why she came from Africa to Britain as well as details about her social class. Her teeth and bones were both in good condition but it’s uncertain whether she may have been of higher status or a favored slave.
