He Reached Out to Her Again
In 2016, Mr. Wisnia reached out to Dr. Tichauer again and she finally agreed to a visit from him. 72 years since seeing his former girlfriend in Auschwitz, Wisnia and his grandkids visited the 97-year-old in her apartment in New York. When they walked in, she was lying in a hospital bed surrounded by books and photographs.
