Vikings Were Explorers
Vikings were the first explorers to discover the new world. They did it nearly 500 years before Christopher Columbus set sail! The Viking Leif Erikson landed in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1000 AD, and named the area Vinland. There’s clear Viking evidence at L’Anse Aux Meadows.
