Nippo Maru was a 107 meter transport ship that was sunk in 1941 by three 500-pound bombs. It was later discovered in Truk Lagoon in 1969 by Jacques Cousteau and his diving expedition. Inside there were several items, including a tank, gas masks, and personal effects from the former crew of the military vessel.
