4. The Eternal Resting Place
Sculptor Juan de Ávalos wanted to create a special pair of coffins for the two, each one wearing the family crest. On top of the coffins, their statues were chiseled, showing the two almost holding hands.
We said almost because their hands do not touch! Diego’s sculpture reaches out and tries to grasp Isabel’s hand. But were these two corpses really the ones of the Lovers?
