American silversmith Paul Revere rode through Boston shouting this iconic quote. Except he probably didn’t say it. The line was written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow for his patriotic poem, “Paul Revere’s Ride.” So the quote was basically fiction, much like the following quote spoken somewhere over the rainbow.
