Not Everybody Was Convinced by the Trials

A woman in her 70s named Martha Corey believed that the idea of witchcraft was fictitious and bogus. She confided in her neighbors and spoke up against the trials trying to convince others to stop going to them. However, this put the spotlight on her and many accused her of being a witch, thinking she was obstructing the trials. Ironically when she was charged, her husband testified against her and she was hanged shortly afterwards.
