Ipswich Jail
As a result of manipulated prick tests, spiteful accusations, witch hunters, and fictitious evidence brought forward in court, hundreds of people in Salem were arrested. Authorities were faced with the issue of where to put all of the accused. Many were placed in the local Ipswich jail which became overcrowded with poor conditions and prisoners forced to do labor while they awaited trial.
