Burned Alive
Contrary to popular belief, none of the accused in the Salem witch trials were burned at the stake. However, this was a common punishment for witchcraft in Europe. According to English law, the 19 victims of the Salem witch trials were instead taken to Gallows Hill where they died by hanging, except for Giles Corey who died by being pressed to death with heavy stones.
