British store Tesco once received criticism for tweeting out “It’s sleepy time so we’re off to hit the hay!” This isn’t too bad in isolation, but, at the time, Tesco was in the midst of a scandal for selling “beef” that was actually made from horsemeat. People weren’t thrilled about the “hit the hay” reference.
