Just a couple of months later, NASA launched the third manned mission, with a more ambitious plan. It started on 21 Dec and ended on 27 Dec 1968.
What makes this mission so special? It’s the first one to leave Earth’s orbit, head towards the moon and orbit around it 10 times! That’s right, it was the first time humans saw the moon and Earth from those distances.
