18. Apollo 9
This mission was crucial for the future, as it was the first flight of the Command/Service Module with the Lunar Module (LM). The LM was the craft in which astronauts would later land on the moon. The Apollo 9 crew made sure the LM worked great.
The mission took place just a few months after the previous Apollo mission – Mar 03 – Mar 13 1969.
