Laverne and M. Lamar Cox
If you love the show “Orange Is The New Black”, then you might be surprised to find out that one of the show’s biggest stars has a twin. I bet you didn’t see this one coming.
You all know that Laverne Cox is a transgender actress playing as Sophia Burset on the hit Netflix series, but what might have eluded you so far was that she has a twin brother who is an artist and a musician.
His name is M. Lamar Cox and he was also part of the “Orange Is The New Black” cast to play as his sister before she transitioned. Lamar wasn’t an actor, but he did a hell of a job playing his sister. At the audition for Sophia Burset before her transition, no other men were able to get the role right, and when the casting heard about Cox’s twin, they asked if he could audition. It was the best choice they’ve ever made, and who knows? Maybe Lamar will show up in another TV series in the future…
