A Star-Nosed Mole
This scary-looking animal is called the star-nosed mole, hence its pink appendage-like structures around the nose. There are twenty-two of them, and they are called Elmer’s organs. They are able to pick up smells, vibrations, temperature changes, and touch. Star-nosed moles live in the northern regions of North America and prefer wet, low areas as well as lakes and ponds where they go to find food.
