Jane Toppan
Jane Toppan experimented on patients by studying their reaction to drugs like atropine and morphine while working at Cambridge Hospital in 1885. She later admitted to killing about 31 people. She was found not guilty by reason of insanity and spent the rest of her life at Taunton State Hospital.
