Grace O’Malley
Grace O’Malley was a 16th century Irish pirate and an early example of feminism who stands as a dominant female protagonist in Irish history. An expert sailor, she and her army fought the British Empire in Ireland and even met with Queen Elizabeth I to discuss politics in which she refused to bow in front of and carried a dagger under her dress for protection.
