Richie Havens opened the show around 5 pm on Friday. His 40-minute set turned into a 2-hour performance. This was followed by an unscheduled blessing from Satchidananda Saraswati. This snowballed into every performance being insanely behind schedule. Woodstock was supposed to end Sunday evening, but did not officially end until the morning of Monday, August 18.
