Macintosh Portable

In 1991, before laptops were commonplace, Apple tried its hand at portable computing with the Macintosh Portable. With a weight of 16 pounds, more than five times that of today’s MacBook Air, the Macintosh Portable was perhaps destined to fall short of expectations, and issues with battery life and screen visibility didn’t help. After just two years, Apple discontinued the product in favor of its much-improved PowerBook line.
