After Patrick subtracted all mandatory expenses from his earnings, he could have spent only $70 a week. Although it wasn’t much, he tried to stretch his earnings to cover the cost of diapers, car payments, as well as miscellaneous items. However, it wasn’t enough. In order to survive, Patrick would often skip breakfast. In doing so, he would save money and invest it in something that was more important.
