In tenth grade, he was in a production of “Romeo and Juliet” and as a teenager starred in a production of “The Tempest.” In 1993, he played the villainous and devilishly handsome Don Jon in Branagh’s “Much Ado About Nothing.” After turning down a sequel to “Speed”, he played Hamlet in 1995 for the Manitoba Theater Centre.
