In 2009, goth-rock legends The Cure hit the Coachella stage and hit it long and hard. They played for over two and a half hours and had three encores. Their set was actually cut off by the festival managment. Their third encore was supposed to be just one more song, they started a second — “Boys Don’t Cry” — and the Coachella crew cut the speakers. The band still continued to play, having a nice sing-a-long with the audience.
