Rose went on to give an explanation as to how she believes her grandmother wound up with a painting from Henry Francois Farny. She stated that the artist could have been roaming the Native American reservation in New York state as a hunter with the Seneca tribe. Then, at the time that he was painting it, her grandmother happened to meet him and subsequently purchased it from him. She added that he moved to Ohio but maintained relationships with the Sioux Tribe, another clan who adopted him and christened him ‘LongBoots’. This was a reference to something that was seen under the artist’s signature. What was Rose referring to?
