Upon speaking with Ron, investigators discovered that the couple had hung the painting behind the door leading to their bedroom. There, it had remained away from prying eyes for several decades. When the door was open, the painting could not be seen. Therefore, it served as their private painting that could only be viewed by them from inside their bedroom. Then, upon doing some digging, they realized that their actions were described in a book of short stories penned by Jerry Alter himself in 2011. In it, he speaks of a fictitious mother and daughter who steal a 120-carat jewel from a museum, escaping in a getaway car. The similarity between stories was too strong – Jerry and Rita were the perpetrators. How would Ron take the news?
