Rose could not allow the beauty and impact of the painting to be compromised by a small black insect that had no business wedging itself where it didn’t belong. Therefore, she brought the painting to the light and opened up the back of its frame. She then took out the glass and looked at the insect. She realized that it was a mosquito. With utmost precision and care, she pinched the insect off the painting, in the process, grazing the painted canvas with her knuckle. She disposed of the offending insect and reassembled the painting. To her, the painting looked real.
