Cast: Within the titular Guardians, Zoe Saldana plays Gamora, Filipino-Greek-American Dave Bautista plays Drax, and Vin Diesel, whose mother is white and whose absent father is a person of color, plays Groot. Beyond them, Benicio del Toro appears in a larger role as The Collector. Djimon Hounsou plays Korath, a villainous henchman. Of the role, he said he wanted his son to see “diversity in the role of the superhero.” Josh Brolin plays Thanos for the first time, taking the role from black actor Damion Poitier.
