Hyperion
Author Dan Simmons’ “Hyperion” features a hodgepodge of explorers traveling to a distant planet to confront a mysterious creature called the Shrike, and its structure, with each of the explorers telling their own story “Canterbury Tales”-style, seems ideal for a TV miniseries format. This is exactly what the Syfy channel plans to do, and with the support and involvement of Bradley Cooper, they just might pull it off. The story’s roots in philosophy make it a potential worthy successor to “Thrones’s” exploration of complex human themes.
