The Sandman

Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel series “The Sandman,” which mixes elements of fantasy and horror, has drawn interest as an adaptation since the late ‘90s, but creative differences between Gaiman and a string of potential filmmakers have kept it from reaching the screen. Granted, it’s not always easy to translate a graphic novel into a successful live-action film, especially not one in which the main character is a metaphysical representation of dreams, but Netflix is hoping that a TV series will do the trick. With accomplished screen- and comic writer Allan Heinberg at the helm, they might be on to something.
