Gormenghast
Gaiman is also involved in the adaptation of another author’s work. “Gormenghast,” a TV series based on the novels of British author and Tolkien-contemporary Mervyn Peake, was recently picked up by Showtime, with Gaiman and Akiva Goldsman producing. “Gormenghast” is similar to “Thrones” in that the fantasy elements tend to take a backseat to the politics, and the sprawling castle that serves as its setting dwarfs Westerosi castles like the Red Keep, Winterfell, and Harrenhal in both size and mystery.
