Wild Cards
Though both were created by George R. R. Martin, the “Wild Cards” anthology series is a totally different kind of fantasy from “Game of Thrones,” with a modern-day American setting and superhero-like characters who gain their abilities from a virus. “Wild Cards” has become a bit of a joke among Martin’s so-called fans, who wonder why he spends so much time on this series instead of writing “The Winds of Winter,” but odds are they would find plenty to like if they gave it a chance. Hulu certainly hopes so, as they’re developing two different streaming series based on the books.
