‘The Lord of the Rings’ Prequel
Not to be outdone by HBO, Amazon also bought the rights to a massively popular fantasy property: “The Lord of the Rings.” Fans expecting to see favorite characters like Frodo and Aragorn may be disappointed, as the show will take place in the Second Age, well before the events of the book and movie trilogy, but a set of promotional maps seems to promise that the new series will explore parts of Middle-earth that the Peter Jackson movies barely mentioned. “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” actor Will Poulter will be part of the cast, and “Game of Thrones’s” Bryan Cogman is consulting on the series, which Amazon hopes to air in 2021.
