Thanks to Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and actor Winston Duke, we now have the funniest barking scene in cinema. As Martin Freeman’s whiny character tries to explain something or other, M’Baku and his fellow tribespeople literally bark him into silence. Duke then, masterfully, ends the set piece with a sly smile. It’s funny because of the clash of emotional contexts, and it’s rich because of its political subtext.
