The musician died in Kensington, London on September 18, 1970. His autopsy showed the presence of the barbiturate, Vesparax, which led him to aspirate his own vomit, causing asphyxiation. Reports claimed Jimi’s girlfriend, Monika Dannemann, gave two different accounts of Hendrix’s final moments.
