Before jet engines, passengers flew on piston aircrafts which couldn’t fly as high nor as long as planes do today. Back in 1935, the “Kangaroo Route” from the UK to Australia took 12 days with multiple stops along the way. Today however, you can fly non-stop for 17 hours from London to Perth.
