Potato beetles are disgusting, like really really disgusting. To protect themselves from being eaten in their larval stage the beetles cover themselves in their own feces. In case this doesn’t deter hungry beetle munchers the poop is actually toxic because the beetles eat nightshade, a poisonous flower that they’re immune to. Frankly if you’re gonna eat a shit covered bug you probably deserve to get poisoned.
