The Piri Reis Map
The Piri Reis Map dates back to 1513, and shows off the oceans around various coasts across the world. Most perplexing is that the map details Antarctica – despite the fact that this land mass had not yet been discovered. Even more confusingly, the Piri Reis Map records Antarctica as it would have looked millennia ago, when it wasn’t covered in snow and ice.
