Gobekli Tepe
The Gobekli Tepe temple is fascinating to archeologists. It’s an ancient religious site that would have been made by hunter-gatherer nomads before the invention of permanent settlements. It’s believed that this ancient temple might have inspired the creation of the city that surrounds it, instead of the other way around. According to excavator Klaus Schmidt, “First came the temple, then the city.”
