When she was 11, Wineman was diagnosed with pervasive development disorder, but that didn’t stop her from competing in the Miss America pageant. That’s right, Miss Montana became the very first known contestant to have autism. She managed to get to top 15, which to her “seemed like the peak to my own personal Everest.”
