1968 Thule Air Base B-52 crash
On January 21st 1968, a cabin fire aboard a US Air Force B-52 bomber carrying four B28FI thermonuclear bombs led to a crash near Thule Air Base in Greenland. Although an extensive clean-up and recovery mission followed, a portion of one of the nuclear weapons was never recovered.
