Project Iceworm
During the Cold War, the US Army set up a program to place medium-range nuclear missiles underneath the Greenland ice sheet. Due to sheet ice elasticity, the project and its Camp Century site were abandoned, assuming its reactor would be buried under snowfall indefinitely. Unfortunately, the ice sheet covering Camp Century is expected to start melting in the year 2100.
