The events that unfolded between May 1st and 2nd 2011 had been in motion for a decade. The “kill-or-capture” mission was meant to apprehend Osama bin Laden, pretty much by any means. And while the “capture” portion of the mission may have been on the table, US officials were pretty clear about “kill” being the preferred outcome.
